500 words on Dress Codes

Dress codes in schools are acceptable. Dress codes create an easier learning environment and help students and teachers avoid awkward social situations. When it comes to dress codes things like shorts and skirts must be at least finger tip length and low cut shirts are not to be worn are definately within reason for students and teachers alike to be asked to follow. For example you have a girl walking into school with a skirt hiked up and a really low cut shirt you will have boys not paying attention to the class she is attending. It also means that if there are male teachers present, they could feel awkward around that girl. It would be perfectly fine for that teacher to want her to dress more appropriately for class. The girls in that class would most likely make it even more awkward for the girl who is dressed inappropriately. They would call her names and maybe even confront her about it. So if she would have just followed a dress code, there would be no problem.

Teachers should be asked to follow a dress code as well. If you had a teacher working at a high school and she wasn’t following a particular dress code you could have yet another case of boys not paying attention to the class material, and possibly awkward situations for that teacher. The teacher could get into a lot of trouble with the administration that way.

Other dress code criterea like asking students to not wear drug paraphenilia or gang symbols are also advantages. It may not seem distracting to the kids wearing the symbol, but to the kids who are in the class may be wondering why they would wear something like that, rather than worrying about what the teacher is talking about up front.

Uniforms at school could also be an advatage because kids coming from lower income families will not be able to be distinguished between those of higher income families. This would help avoid ridicule from students about how the clothes they are wearing aren’t as up to date as the ones the other students have. Making it fair for all students and creating a smoother learning environment.

Extra Credit- Things I Strongly Dislike

Things I strongly dislike (with slight descriptions why):

Tall People- they stare down at me and make me feel little. (but it sometimes depends on the tall person)
Slow Drivers- every time I want to be somewhere, I always seem to get stuck behind slow people, giving me road rage.
People who make annoying sounds- self explanatory
Computers that die in the middle of my posts- this recently happened and I decided it is not cool.
WEST HANCOCK TITANS!- our school rival.
Parents saying no when they don’t give a reason- my parents do this to me a lot.
Dumb Excuses- like my dog ate my homework or other..I say if you are going to have an excuse at least make an inventive one.. like, I was on my nightly trip to California and I lost my homework somewhere between here and Arizona.
Sitting at home on a Friday night with nothing to do- you end up very bored..
People who make up their own slang terms and try to get other people to say them too–I find it weird.
Having a song stuck in your head, and not knowing what it is- it basically drives me nuts!

Thats all I can think of for now….
